Thank you for taking the Black person's Unity Pledge!

Taking these pledges will prove that you’re ready to acknowledge the difficult past, reassess the information that has been passed down to you, and move forward fully unified.

It only takes about one minute to complete all five of the pledges if you agree to each of them

If you’re not sure about a pledge or you want to learn about its background, click the logic, learning & songs links.

Please listen to the entertaining songs that will help you better understand the logic.

This is a big and longstanding issue.  These simple pledges can’t address or fix everything, but they’re a place to start building a new, prosperous America together.

Pledge #1 – Recognize the Unbalanced Start

I pledge to thoroughly understand the extensive obstacles that Black people have faced in the U.S. (from slavery to recent times), and recognize that their quality of life across the board would be the same as whites if they had come here voluntarily and had always lived as free, unobstructed people.

Pledge #2 – Challenge What I was Taught:

I pledge to acknowledge that any information passed down to me by family, friends, or society that black people are inherently less intelligent, less hardworking, or less moral than whites is not true.

Pledge #3 – Treat others as You Would Want to be Treated:

I pledge to denounce or at least ignore anyone who tells a black joke or makes a racial slur, which is a continuation of the mean-spirited, blackface minstrel shows that have carried 200 years of cruelty. I also agree that Confederate flags and statues of Jefferson Davis, General Lee, and others are painful reminders of slavery and should be kept in museums rather than on prideful display.

Pledge #4 – We will Achieve Prosperity Together:

I pledge to unify with the Black population socially and in business, and to understand that this unification does not mean that I am disrespecting my heritage.

Pledge #5 – It’s Time for a Race Reset:

I pledge to view Black people as no different from European descendants and to be a champion for all Black success, because I know the U.S. will be a stronger country when we are all living the American Dream together.
